Four years ago, former Gov. Ted Strickland signed an executive order prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity for all state employees in hiring, layoff, termination, transfer, promotion, demotion, rate of compensation and eligibility for training programs. Kasich allowed this order to expire Jan. 10.
The non-discrimination policy issued today mimics Strickland’s, but omits gender identity and expression.
In a pre-election interview, Kasich told the Columbus Dispatch he would renew Strickland’s executive order, including sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes.
